Be Part of My 40-for-40 Challenge

Dear Friends,

This week I reached an important milestone on our campaign for State Treasurer -- I logged the 40,000th mile as I was traveling across Ohio listening to citizens' concerns.

Today I'm asking if you would make a $40 donation to match the 40,000 miles I've traveled throughout the state?

I'm calling this the "40-for-40 Challenge" and I hope you'll participate!  Our goal is to motivate 1,000 people to give $40 online by the end of this week, so that we can match my 40,000 miles with $40,000 to support our campaign.

While others raise their campaign cash from big special interests and those with lucrative state contracts, we are doing it the old-fashioned way -- person-to-person.  As a valued grassroots supporter, can you help me meet this goal?  You are the backbone of my campaign.  You will be my key to victory.  Our first test starts today!

By the end of this week, can you help our campaign with a contribution of $40, $80, $120 or even more?

I learned in my family and in the Marine Corps that hard work is critical to success.  Each of my campaigns has been an uphill battle.  Each victory has been against the odds.  But knocking on tens of thousands of doors and wearing out shoe leather has helped make the difference.  Now, in addition to wearing out the shoe leather, I'm wearing out the tire rubber, and need your help to keep driving forward!

P.S.: Don't forget that your donation of $40 gets you a $40 credit on your 2009 state taxes.  Ohio law allows a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for the first $50 (or $100 for married couples filing jointly) that you donate to my campaign.
