A new generation of Ohio voters

Over the past few months, I have driven over 54,000 miles to almost every corner of this state and have met with voters from all walks of life.  One thing I tell everyone I meet is that I am committed to sharing my message of fiscal responsibility, economic freedom and job creation with younger generations of Ohioans.

Ohio is home to some of the best colleges and universities in the nation. Students come here from all over the world for a top-notch education, but unfortunately too often only to leave the state after graduation in search of a better job.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—this needs to change.

With hard work and discipline, we can make this change!

I remember knocking on doors in my campaign for City Council, where long-time residents told me that high property taxes were forcing them and their children to want to sell their homes.  To keep our neighborhoods strong for the future, I worked with my colleagues (Democrats, Republicans and Independents) to pass one of the only municipal property tax cuts in state history.

Josh Speaking with young adults. As State Representative, I have fought against reckless spending and politicians from both political parties who think that government intervention is the answer to every problem.

Some skeptics would argue that you shouldn't campaign to young people because young people don't vote.  Those skeptics are wrong!  Now more than ever, the younger generation is engaged and aware that the out of control spending by federal and state politicians is mortgaging their future.

The American Dream is built by parents who are willing to sacrifice so that their kids can enjoy a better life.  This has happened every generation since our nation was founded.   That is until today.  Selfish politicians are spending like there is no tomorrow, refusing to govern responsibly and leaving what seems to be an insurmountable debt onto our children and grandchildren.

Ohio’s young citizens understand the burden that is being placed unfairly on their shoulders and they understand that this type of fiscal irresponsibility is not acceptable.  This is why I will continue to openly and aggressively work to motivate the younger voters of Ohio—they have countless reasons to pay attention to what is going on in their government.
